Because I'm a writer who works late into the small hours of the night, my sleep schedule is shifted a bit from the most everyone else's. I usually am up until 3:00 AM and sleep till 11:00 AM. The rest of the world is up and going about its noisy business during part of those hours and I fought all kinds of external noises--lawn mowers, barking dogs, screaming kids, the repeated trips of the garbage collectors on Thursdays, AND a CPAP machine next to my bed. Even a fan was too loud to let me rest. The I found Hearos Xtreme. Aaaahhhhhh . . .
I can now sleep through a ringing phone, most of the barking and mowing--they're great! If you work odd hours or are sensitive to noise (like a snoring partner) get these ear plugs. Follow directions for use and you'll slowly hear the outside work fade away.

Where have you been all my little overly sensitive to sounds life, oh Ohropax? Even as a little girl I have been overly sensitive to noises especially when trying to fall and stay asleep. I used to drive my parents crazy when I was little asking them to turn down the sound on the TV! When I was little I would try to fall asleep with my fingers in my ears - didn't work. As a teenager with the transitor radio to my ears (dating myself, I know). THEN I discovered Flents Ear Stopples and all was right in my world for many, many years. Then some strange evil ruled the planet and the quality of Flents went way down. The wax was sometimes old or almost non-existent. I couldn't trim them to fit my ears because they were so hard (not to mention jamming them into my ears). What fresh Hell is this? And they became a little harder to find. What no fellow Proust-like sound haters to beef up the market? Then I went on Amazon to buy more Flents (a gal's gotta do what a gal's gotta do). And noticed Ohropax and saw it got good reviews from former Flents lovers. I figured I'd try them. What a REVELATION! Flents Quiet Time Comfort Foam Ear Plugs.

I have some of the other Quiet Time Soft Comfort ear plugs (paler lavender), and they work MUCH better than these "original formula" plugs. In fact, if I must hear my alarm in the a.m., I use these deliberately as I hear nothing with the others. I noticed the difference right away, as with the others I cannot hear my bedroom fan at all. With these I can. Also, the others last forever. I don't know yet how these last. Both are soft and comfie though.

I bought these after reading a review of earplugs online. I had been using industrial style Home Depot green earplugs and they worked just okay. I use earplugs because I live in a townhouse and have noisy neighbors on the other side of a shared wall. The noises are commonly thumps and thuds from doors and heavy footsteps and the sound still got through with the old earplugs. The Hearos ear plugs are super comfortable and VERY efficient. Putting them in is a breeze, just roll one between your fingers and slide it in your ear - then put your finger by the end to allow it to expand in the right place. Neighbor noise is eliminated except for the loudest noises, and even those are brought down to a very dull level. I was surprised when after putting them in one night I could not hear my washing machine and dryer running from the room down the hall AT ALL. They seem to last a decently long time, I've been using about a pair a week before they begin to start not working as well.
One thing to be careful about is being able to hear an alarm in the morning. I turned mine up after a morning where I almost overslept because I couldn't hear it at all!
