 i can finally hear again, 2010-08-16
ok, that was a bit of an exaggeration. i could hear before using this product, but one of my ears had been clogged for months. i had tried those liquids you put in your ear for 10 minutes n then rinse with a squirt of water--did it many times. nothing helped. i tried usin a piece of paper rolled up into a point--nope. so i get this thing; i think, this isnt gonna work, nothing has worked. but it did. i very, very carefully and sloooooowly slid this thing as deep as i could, until i could hear it stop against something that felt/sounded hard. i could tell it was not my skin because that sounds differently in your head. anyway, when i felt the hardened wax that had been stuck in there for who knows how long, i applied a little pressure (never to the point where i would endure any pain), and pulled downward in a semicircular motion with the small scoop. well, i did this for about 15 minutes, because it takes time to do it safely. anyway, by the end of it, the water i had running sounded like a roaring waterfall. it was really odd at first; my hearing was so messed up for so long, that things sounded really strange. in my head, i sounded like i had a lisp, the sound of tissue russling was super clear, water drips could be heard for miles (ok, not miles, but they were loud). it was crazy. took a few days for my ear to calibrate itself, now everything sounds normal, only i get 2.1 audio instead of mono. this scoop worked great. i highly recommend it if you have experienced weaker hearing because of wax build up. BE CAREFUL, DO NOT PUT UP WITH ANY PAIN WHEN USING!

This product worked for both my wife and I. We followed the directions, used luke warm water and after a few tries had taken all the earwax out. Works as advertised and does what it says it does. The best thing about it is the price, for $5.00 you can't go wrong. Though the product is cheaply prized, it is not cheaply made. It should last you a few years if you take good care of it and clean it after use each time. As others have said, it is better to let someone else push the plunger all the way in the syringe for you, works quicker that way....

I bought these after reading a review of earplugs online. I had been using industrial style Home Depot green earplugs and they worked just okay. I use earplugs because I live in a townhouse and have noisy neighbors on the other side of a shared wall. The noises are commonly thumps and thuds from doors and heavy footsteps and the sound still got through with the old earplugs. The Hearos ear plugs are super comfortable and VERY efficient. Putting them in is a breeze, just roll one between your fingers and slide it in your ear - then put your finger by the end to allow it to expand in the right place. Neighbor noise is eliminated except for the loudest noises, and even those are brought down to a very dull level. I was surprised when after putting them in one night I could not hear my washing machine and dryer running from the room down the hall AT ALL. They seem to last a decently long time, I've been using about a pair a week before they begin to start not working as well.
One thing to be careful about is being able to hear an alarm in the morning. I turned mine up after a morning where I almost overslept because I couldn't hear it at all!

i work nights and have to sleep during the day.
Between dogs and kids and usual house noises this can be tough.
These plugs do the trick.
I have used other otc plugs and have been disappointed, usual b/c the plugs fall out or are hard to insert.
Just roll these between you fingers and insert as packaging states.
Comfortable and don't fall out.
I would recommend these to anyone that needs plugs to sleep.

Most comfortable of all ear plugs I've tried., 2010-08-02
Long story short, I can't sleep without earplugs. I've tried EVERY brand on the market and found these to be the most comfortable and best at sound reduction. I also take a couple pair along on an airplane when travelling, and to concerts where the volume may be cranked up to the point of discomfort for me. These take the edge off loud music making it enjoyable instead of ear-splitting.
Shooters note: I use these coupled with the standard headphone style sound guards. Big improvement!
Also, in these bulk containers, they're as inexpensive as it gets.

My boyfriend lost his hearing due to impacted ear wax and this handy tool was so helpful in letting us figure out what was going on with his ear. I'm so glad I bought it! It's very easy to use and gives a great view of the ear canal and eardrum.

Practical Ear Plugs, 2010-08-19
As one user suggested, these earplugs are most effective if rolled into elongated cylinder shapes, stuck length-wise into the ear canal, and molded on the outside (to look roughly like a mushroom). The packaging advises against such usage, but I have been using them this way for quite some time, and have never had any problems with getting the silicone plugs stuck in my ears. This way, the outside of the plug goes flush against your pillow, and discomfort while sleeping is minimized. I am a light sleeper who wakes very easily, and I use these when traveling, or any time I am sleeping near people who are on a different schedule from me. The other foam ear plugs may provide a higher decibel-level protection for some activities, but I have never been able to sleep with them in because they tend to be very uncomfortable, and irritate my ears when I rest them against the pillow. These ones are malleable and can be molded to fit any ear, and given a proper seal, provide quite good noise reduction and are quite comfortable to wear. I had these in while walking around the airport recently and picked up certain frequencies better than others. I was able to isolate certain sounds, like a nearby conversation, for instance. It's true that you will be able to hear your own heartbeat and breath with great sensitivity when these are in as well. I also used plugs very much like these (if not these same ones) when swimming as a child, with tubes in my ears which had to be kept dry.
