As previously stated by another RN this is a great med to fight sinus infections. I have been taking it for acute bronchitis and it really thins out the mucus secretions so they can be coughed up and out. That is in Expectorant form.
This 12 hour extended release bi-layer tablet really cuts down on the number of pills required during 24 hours. The price at Amazon includes free shipping with doorstep delivery that is so wonderful when you don't feel well.
I would like to add two words of advice when it comes to the acute bronchitis usage of this medication. 1. Be sure any OTC drugs do NOT include an antihistamine (such as Benedryl) because that will only defeat the purpose of the Mucinex by drying and thickening secretions so they are even MORE difficult to express up. 2. Always check with your physician when adding ANY type of new medication to your drug regime. Although Guaifenesin has been around for years a drug interaction is NOT pretty. Avoiding one is well worth the "time on hold" waiting for an office nurse to take your call.

Amazon is a good place to see all the variants for Mucinex.
And the bottle of 500 tabs for 26 cents a piece was, I thought, the best price anywhere.
But when I clicked for the actual page, it was not the bottle of 500 pictured but a
twin-pack of 40s (80 tabs)! And the S & H of $13.95 is outrageous even for a 500 tab bottle.
Amazon is notorious for outrageous S & H.

I have severe sinus allergies and mucinex is part of the treatment that helps prevent reacurring sinus congestion, headaches and infections.
12 hour formula is more expensive but is easier than taking so many of the regular mucinex every 4 hours- unfortuantely there is no generic for the 12 hour tablets.

I have chronic sinusitis and allergic rhinitis. I have the worst of the sinus nightmares, having had 3 surgeries to clear things up. I have benefited greatly from using this product after they discontinued one of my prescription meds. I would highly reccomend it to anyone with a sinus problem. Its expensive, but my health is $25 for a product that works. With regular doctor visits & the occasional antibiotic, a nasal spray & mucinex; after my last surgery it's been a year with no need for additional surgeries. I understand that it could be the doctor or the prescription meds, but I notice a real difference when I take this medicine and when I skip some doses.
