Disney sets a record for bringing out a direct-to-video sequel after the initial film. Stitch: The Movie arrives only a year after the enjoyable Lilo & Stitch played theaters and reunites the title character (otherwise known as Experiment 626) with his earth-bound family in the warm Hawaiian sun. The story has a nice set-up: since Stitch is Experiment 626, where are the first 625 invented by Dr. Jumba Jookiba? Odds are the island paradise will soon be spaceport central for many more aliens. As with other made-for-video Disney titles, the animation is not as complex or rich. This hurts this sequel even more since the original film had such a unique, pastel be...

Spot the dog leaped from the pages of Eric Hill's books to the Disney Channel some time ago, and now he has his own full-length video. The 13 animated segments (each 4.5 minutes long) feature the puppy, his parents, and pals Helen the hippo, Steve the monkey, and Tom the crocodile in such everyday adventures as building a tree house, camping in the back yard, and donning costumes for a homemade theatrical production. Lovers of the simply illustrated books will recognize such familiar landmarks as the stairway, the rug, and the sofa, as well as the same understandable themes (share, cooperate with adults, follow through). In a universe away from his Oscar-nominated turn i...

Donald Duck's nephews learn why holidays come once a year, Goofy and son discover the spirit of Santa, and Mickey and Minnie reenact a classic tale of giving in this all-new holiday offering. Kelsey Grammer (TV's Frasier) narrates as Donald hosts Christmas at his house, complete with an egg and pancake breakfast, a sled for each duckling in the closet, and Daisy under the mistletoe. But the celebration gets old fast when the boys' wish for Christmas every day comes true. Next up, Goofy's son wonders whether there is a Santa after the villainous Pete tells him there's not and he catches Dad impersonating the portly gift-giver. Goofy demonstrates the spirit o...

In "Babies in Toyland," it's Dil's first Christmas and the Rugrats want to make sure it's one he'll remember. All, that is, except for bratty Angelica--she just cares about the presents. A group excursion to Christmasland--parents and grandparents included--results in a holiday that no one is likely to soon forget. One thing after another goes wrong, but everybody learns to make the best out of a bad situation (like when those automated Nutcracker figurines go, ahem, nuts). By the end, even Angelica is convinced that it really is better to give than to receive--and hands her gift over to someone more deserving (you'll have to see it to believe it). The 110-m...
