Undoubtedly the first movie in history to have played in theaters with three different endings (depending on which theater you attended), Clue is a silly whodunit based on the familiar board game featuring Colonel Mustard, Mrs. Peacock, and all the other usual suspects. A broadly comic cast play the sundry suspects gathered in a mansion to solve a murder, knowing that one of their numbers is the culprit. Morgan Fairchild made her screen debut in this ridiculous and insulting film as a television newswoman under constant sexual threat from a "fan" (Andrew Stevens). The lame script finds Fairchild's character scared as long as she feels powerless to this predator's threats, but capable of defending herself by--take a deep breath here--turning the tables and coming on to him. The climactic scene, in which Fairchild stops a rape by undoing the guy's pants while he turns into a quivering little boy, is not only absurd in its staging but irresponsible on every level. --Tom Keogh

A much inferior sequel to the first hit film, Police Academy 2 nevertheless manages to keep a free-spirited, juvenile tone. Steve Guttenberg (Cocoon, Three Men and a Baby) returns as the charming goof-off, now graduated from the academy. He and the usual batch of misfits are let loose on the streets as rookie cops, wreaking havoc everywhere they go as they do battle with terrorists threatening the city. Some choice moments from the likes of Michael Winslow, as the man whose voice can imitate any sound, barely compensate for this being a pale imitation of the original movie. --Robert Lane
