I thought this movie was great! There wasn't any downtime to speak of and characters you couldn't help but love. Tough men, tough times, gunplay, romance, respect...this one's got it all.

The undying theme of helping another human being survive motivates these unbelievably, courageous Coast Guard men. When the viewer
is thrown into the amazingly photographed rescue scenes and understands how important their arduous training was,
and how easy it would be to get emotionally involved, than the movie takes on a deeper resonance: "swim to the weakest and let the others go". It's the memory of the tortured others, that eternal ache, that slowly eats away at Costner's character. Like others who have carried the cross it is a heavy burden.
Well acted, great footage of ocean rescues.
