This is a wonderful adaption of one of my favourite novels of Jane Austen.

A short summary of the story:
The heroine of the story is Emma and is a young, intelligent and very beautiful woman of high social rank and with a large fortune. Due to all these factors she is a little bit spoiled and has sometimes a too good opinion of herself. She is determined never to marry except when being in love- she needn't to marry only to rise socially nor to gain more fortune anymore.
So she thinks that she does a good deed by helping other women of inferior social status to marry better but ends up in doing everything much worse.
Happily, like in all books by Jane Austen, there is a happy end.

Some points which I like most in this film:
This film may be not made as cinematique as all the other Emma adaptions, but it shows a very realistic, amiable, charming and also funny picture of the society of the 19th century.
The characters of Emma and Mr Knightley are excellent portrayed, especially the latter is the Mr Knightley I've always imagined. I've seen some extracts of the new Emma- film and I have to admit that I don't like Knightley in those one very much, maybe because Johnny Lee Miller looks so young and he plays Knightley a little bit too nice, but this is a matter of taste.

Much Ado About Nothing

  Rated: PG-13 (Parental Guidance Suggested)
Staring: Kenneth Branagh, Michael Keaton, Robert Sean Leonard, Keanu Reeves, Emma Thompson
Full of "sparkling merriment" (The Hollywood Reporter), this sexy, sunny comedy positively sizzles as one set of lovers battles against a dirty trick, and another set simply battleseach other! Adapted by Oscar® nominee* Kenneth Branagh and featuring an all-star cast, this charming romp "casts the battle of the sexes in the form of an elegant dance" (The New York Times). A military war has just ended, but the "merry war" between Beatrice (Emma Thompson) and Benedick (Branagh) rages on! Can their friends trick them into making love instead? For that matter, can another couple's devotion survive the evil Don John's (Keanu Reeves) vicious lies? It's up to the blundering con...

Half a century has passed since I read this play, and my memory, like all other good things, is not what it used to be. I can't judge this movie based on memory of the play, but I can tell you what this old man thinks of it. If you haven't seen it, watch it. If you don't have it, steal or buy it. Don't miss it, you'll love it. If you are able to read, read the play and enjoy it. If like me you cannot read anymore, watch the movie and laugh yourself out of bad humor. I am grateful to the producers and actors and all responsible for this for givng enjoyment when most needed.

This movie should only be viewed on blu ray, full 1080P with a surround sound system. You can really feel the impacts of the bombing and gunfire on surround sound. This movie was awesome. It speaks of how the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, and would bait the U.S. into WWII. But before that, a group of pilots would return the favor with their own bombing attacks on the Japanese. Seeing all those U.S. sailors running for their lives when they were being attacked is truly scary. Much respect to the men and women of the armed forces.

Sometimes it seems that neither Scorsese nor DiCaprio can do wrong. When I first learned of their intentions towards this film, I anticipated an intricate character study with Scorsese's eye for detail. An old-Hollywood homage was expected, with tuxedos and gowns, cigarette holders and champagne glasses, all the glamour on which the industry was built. Maybe even a monocle or two. What I didn't expect for it to be a completely epic, entirely engrossing adventure into a reclusive billionaire, a troubled genius, a man who chased dreams into the clouds while embracing the individual capitalist opportunities available to all willing Americans.

After watching this film again recently, I was reminded why there is nearly no doubt that, in my opinion, Scorsese is the greatest American director of all time and DiCaprio is the best actor of his generation. Each of Scorsese's shots and directorial choices are perfect. Every movement, tic, and cough from DiCaprio is compelling. As ambitious as Hughes himself, the production design is fitting for such an incredible movie. At 3-hours, it could feel a bit long in tooth for some. For most, however, it simply rushes by without being rushed.

If broken down into vignettes, milestone moments of the film could have each hooked me into History channel biographies, if not full length films. The adventures in love, aviation, movie making, and Senate scandals are all the stuff of story books and legends. Howard Hughes lived enough in his early years that his later, more depressing years are just about ignored without being insensitive or incomplete. A brilliant choice of editing.

This dazzling biopic of Hughes' rise to fame and fortune pairs perfectly with Scorsese because he manages to do what most others think can't be done: He created a 3-hour epic that flies by...just like the Spruce Goose. Bravo to all involved.

Once again - anything with DeNiro in, has to be good - this film tugs at every heartstring, the acting is superb by everyone, the script is faultless and the storyline must be familiar to so many families everywhere. For some people to criticise this movie as not funny etc etc - it was'nt meant to be ! Anyone who did'nt feel familar with the storyline and their own life & family & bring not one one but multiple tears to the eye - must have had a very sad & loveless upbringing.
