Criminal Minds revolves around an elite team of FBI profilers who analyze the country's most twisted criminal minds, anticipating their next moves before they strike again. The Behavioral Analysis Unit's most prominent agent is David Rossi (Joe Mantegna), a founding member of the BAU, who returns to help the team solve new cases, while pursuing some unfinished business of his own. Each member brings his or her own area of expertise to the table as they pinpoint predators' motivations and identify their emotional triggers in the attempt to stop them.
Always an Excellent Show - Revised, 2010-06-16 I will admit that Season 5 was a little different than the previous seasons. In some of the episodes it's almost like the writers lost their way...BUT...I still think this is one of the best TV shows to come along in a very long time. Everyone is perfect in their respective roles. I'm glad there is no so-called "Star." This group works so well together - that's when the show is at its best.
There were some very emotional episodes ...some not so heart-rendering. But in all, worth watching many times over!

An average 16-year-old, Joan is going through the growing pains typical of any teenager. But after she and her family (Joe Mantegna, Mary Steenburgen, Jason Ritter, Michael Welch) relocate to Arcadia, her life gets especially interesting when God starts paying her visits.
Series Should Never Have Ended!, 2010-05-27 I loved Joan of Arcadia from the first episode!
This series should never have ended - alas, like most Christian based shows, secular TV gets bored.

Veteran actor-director Paul Newman makes his first Broadway appearance in four decades in this sold-out Westport Country Playhouse production of the Thornton Wilder classic. Newman plays the Stage Manager, who narrates the immortal tale of Grover's Corners, U.S.A., and its citizens. The superb cast of Our Town includes Frank Converse, Jane Curtin, Ben Fox, Jayne Atkinson, Stephen Spinella, and Maggie Lacy. "Marvelous," writes the New Yorker.
Superb interpretation, 2010-01-30 I ordered this DVD for use with my Reading classes as we studied the elements of Drama. Excellent quality for viewing purposes! The performances? Outstanding. Paul Newman as stage manager is classic Newman talent. A treasure to use in my classroom & to own in my home.

Maddie Hayes, a wealthy former model, discovers one morning that her business manager has stolen all the money she has in the bank. Maddie meets with him to inform him that the company is to be shut down, but he persuades her to keep it open by convincing her that the detective agency can make money. Fun, excitement and the whale that captured the world's imagination add up to big family entertainment. A lonely boy understands the plaintive cries of the orca confined to an aquatic park's too-small tank and does something about it in Free Willy (Disc 1/Side A). Watch and understand why "audiences have gone wild for Willy" (Richard Corliss, Time). The boy rejoins Willy in his new ocean home and together they confront a burning oil spill in Free Willy 2: The Adventure Home (Disc 1/Side B), "the ideal family movie" (Caryn James, The New York Times). And Free Willy 3: The Rescue (Disc 2) - "the best of the Free Willy pictures" (Siskel & Ebert) - adds a grittier edge with a...

M. Night Shyamalan (SIGNS, UNBREAKABLE, THE SIXTH SENSE), the director who brought you the world's greatest thrillers on DVD, now creates his most thought-provoking triumph yet ... breaking international records and dazzling audiences around the globe! THE VILLAGE is a smart, edge-of-your-seat chiller crawling with terrifying surprises and frightening twists and turns. An isolated, tight-knit community lives in mortal fear of an oppressive evil inhabiting the forbidden forest just beyond their tiny village. So frightening that no one ventures into the woods ... until one villager dares to face the unknown. With unforgettable performances from Joaquin Phoenix, Sigourney We...
Shyamalan's masterpiece, 2010-05-26 Night has yet to top this flick. He speaks to the notions of the human condition and fidelity and wraps the entire thing in some sort of allegorical reference to Dubya and Nine Eleven. A brilliant film, really. Unfortunately one or two twists too many ultimately prevent it from being considered an all-time great. The story, the acting, the script, and the cinematography were all there. Too bad the lack of excessive twists couldn't also be there.

In this second season box set, Mulder and Scully get glimpses of the global conspiracy as they investigate UFO's, alien abductions, genetic engineering, and ominous government agents.
Mulder, Skully, Skinner, and lots of odd personas; Just another day at the X-files, 2010-07-30 The release of the new Thin line" editions that hold two seasons prompted me to write this because I cannot, for the life of me, buy into that. There are few discs there, less amterial, and less everything when you get you copy that you want. You have less on the beautiful and the aesthic front, too, making it almost like a home that has bad frontage, no light, and a bad color scheme. That set is cheaper, too, but you will get what you pay for.
Here, on the other hand, is a masterpiece for pennies:
You have the six discs plus the extra material paying homage to a show that has so much to say. Sometimes these things ar elittle things, too, but sometimes they comment on something that has meaning.
And this series has meaning when it comes to sisters, aliens, and the overall conspiracy that plays through-out the beast we know and love as X-files.
For those who do not know this, a brief thing on it: "spooky" Fox Mulder has gotten into odd cases, X-files, that require new ideas. He has an agenda regarding his sister (if you do not know it, watch the 1st season). to debunk his claims of the weird sideshow feel he has brought with him, D. Skully is assigned to aid him. The problem is that she sees a lot, too much really, and now is starting to swing to his side. Even his boss, Skinner, is starting to see the value of a duo that can solve odd cases.
The problem is that the conspiracy goes up, way up, and threatens more than just the dogs of war in their trenches. Power - the real deal - knows about the X-files and wants to see them fall hard.
When you see how the two seasons conncect, you have to love that. Flukes - that was a great name to have it save the world as these two agents knew it. It also allowed them some rope, letting them play in more cases. Personally I like that because I ffind the non-alien shows more rewatchable than others. I know many of them tie together, too, but the overall pieces of the puzzle and the weird X-Files are mixed up just enough that you don't feel overwhelmed.
Another thing I think of when I watch is the dynamic between our leads. When it left the show left, but that happens way down the road. For now, the two are hitting their stride and doing it well, making something a lot of people loved (and that more people would love IF they had the chance to see these in order). I even like the returning people, our own three stooges so to speak, plus Skinner and a few others. The "I want to believe poster in the background," the slideshows and the files marked "X"; it all seems so beautiful.
I love it more now than when it came out (I think ti was the age thing and not understanding it then).
If you are going to buy a set, get this one. I love the six disc feel and the little holders it comes with because each tells you about the story in the briefest way possible. "A killer with psychic powers prowls the docks of Seattle, causing Skully to believe she could be the next vistim." (I made that up, but you get the idea).
The newer sets - they are smaller and more streamline but I'm not flying the DVDs and I could never find enough legroom when attempting to take it out on the Freeway. So, the little versions just don't cut it - and they don't cut it when extras are concerned. Buy this, love it, and you will not regret it. Heck, it is almost gone now so you should get it now, making you or someone you love really happy.
